AI am afraid that at this stage we cannot be more specific as current regulation does not require us to have exact shelf life dates for such products. Under the BPR the situation will be different. The standard shelf life is extrapolated from the stability we carry out on the product. We tend to say standard of 12 months (however we have stated 2 years when pushed). There is no other specific data we can give.

A For dosing some of the products, you will need a Pelican Pump which can be sourced online from various companies e.g. Contico.

AYes we do, please request from enquiries@mcbride.co.uk.

A The batch number is a 4 digit number, e.g. 3123. The first number refers to the year, i.e. 2013. The next three numbers indicate the day of that year, i.e. the 123rd day of 2013 in this instance. Expiry is 1 year from the date of manufacture.

AHOSPEC Liquid detergent is suitable for the manual cleaning of dental instruments and prompt decontamination is always recommended as mentioned in HTM01-05. However, spraying the products, if prompt decontamination isn’t possible, does reduce the adsorption of proteins onto the instruments. You should check with the instrument manufacturer as there are different recommendations for different steels, e.g. stainless steel, carbon steel, etc. Carbon steel for example needs to be dried quickly and completely after cleaning so soaking wouldn’t be recommended. Stainless steel should be fine with our HOSPEC detergent as its pH neutral but check with the manufacturer to be sure as grades of steel vary. The water temperature should ideally be around 40degC, and it would be best practice to use a thermometer (mercury-free). Higher than 45degC there is a risk of coagulating protein and consequently inhibiting its removal.

AThere are three European Directives concerning medical devices as follows:- The Active Implantable Medical Devices Directive (90/385/EEC). The Medical Devices Directive (93/42/EEC): as amended in Directives 2000/70 and 2001/104 on medical devices incorporating stable derivatives of human blood or human plasma, The In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Directive (98/79/EC). No HOSPEC product is intended for use in any of these application areas. Therefore none of them have any CE marking. We recommend using the Hospec Neutral Detergent as a pre-wash to your sanitising routine e.g. a washer disinfector & as such do not require the CE marking as there is no valitable process. We are not recommending that this replaces standard sterilising procedures.

APlease refer to the individual HOSPEC Product Use sheets which you can find within the ‘Our Products’ page.

AYes, these are available on request. Please contact our Hospec team on enquiries@mcbride.co.uk.

ATo be food grade, the products need to be odour and taint free. This is only the case for the antibacterial spray. The products have not been ‘food safety tested’ so we cannot claim food safe.

A Yes.

AThe solutions made with the tablets at the recommended concentrations are suitable for all non-porous surfaces. Special precautions should be taken with metallic surfaces as corrosion tarnishing may occur. The detergent sanitiser powder is also ok to use on these surfaces.
